All it took for me to fall for this long-lashed Scottish singer was viewing the video below. But there are plenty of reasons he's awesome. I love his music, from the soothing folksy days to his later psychedelic masterpieces. He had great style, whether wearing a simple cap-and-turtleneck combo or flamboyantly bejeweled bohemian duds. Also, did you know he taught the Beatles how to finger-pick in Rishikesh? "Dear Prudence," "Julia," "Blackbird" and "Mother Nature's Son" wouldn't have sounded the same without him.
(Also of note: his daughter is Ione Skye! Connections like this blow my mind. Like how Ravi Shankar, another Beatles friend, is the father of Norah Jones.)
